The Story

Media Street Apps was founded by Jonathan Lloyd  in 2010. It is a business currently in its first year and already works with nearly 100 local business owners.

It started by accident. There was no local website for the King’s Road and as one of the longest roads in London, there was the opportunity to bring together the local web and create a website which had everything on it; news, businesses, deals, reviews, weather, video, property and events.

In 2010 the first release of the website went live and since then there have been subsequent new feature releases.

One of the key issues though, was the ability to set-up and run another local site without having to reinvent the wheel.

The result was Media Street; some web software where local sites can be setup instantly and features turned on or off.

Developing the case study & business model
The King’s Road website, is Media Street’s case study and flagship site. It is being used to shape not only the development of Media Street, but also the services offered to local businesses.

In September 2010, the first paid product was taken to local businesses; an online marketing pack designed to drive sales and traffic for a local business. Within the first 30 days, nearly 15 local shops signed up including the famous King’s Road Sporting Club (KRSC).

Since then, further paying businesses have been recruited as the local business online marketing pack is shaped to include more features. It is also helping us to add further features to Media Street’s case study website and build a finished product.
